Who can go on HiBuR?
The 2022-23 is open to all Jewish teens from the MetroWest area, who will be in 10th or 11th grade in the '22-23 school year.
What does the cost include?
The participation fee of about $3,000 includes a weekend in NYC, a week of activities in Boston and a 10 day Israel trip, airfare and accommodation included.
What am I committing to when I sign my child?
Signing up to HiBuR is a commitment to participate in the NYC & Boston week, the Israel week, and six 1.5 hour seminars that are spread out before and between the trips. An additional commitment is to host an Israeli student during the Boston week.
How will this affect my child’s school?
The program is coordinated with all schools in the MetroWest area, and requires the teen to miss 2-3 total days of school.
Is it safe to go to Israel?
Since our Israeli partners, Hugim, is a public high school, all activities that take place in Israel are coordinated and supervised by Israeli Ministry of Education. Safety conditions in all visited sites are verified daily with the IDF’s situation room.
What about Covid?
Hosting the Israeli students and traveling to Israel will depend on the Covid situation, both in the US and in Israel. While we closely monitor the situation, we guarantee that there will be no loss of finds in case any parts of the program is canceled.
